Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach, often referred to as “P.B.” by locals, is a vibrant neighborhood situated in San Diego. Bounded by La Jolla to the north, Mission Beach and Mission Bay to the south, Interstate 5 and Clairemont to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west, it has long been a popular area for young people, surfers, and college students. However, due to increasing property and rental costs, the population is gradually shifting towards being older and more affluent.

Notably, Pacific Beach boasts one of San Diego’s more developed nightlife scenes. Along Garnet Avenue and Mission Boulevard you will find a diverse array of bars,eateries,and clothing stores.

The beach itself spans miles from the Mission Bay jetty all the way to La Jolla’s cliffs. The boardwalk, Ocean Front Walk/Ocean Boulevard,is a bustling pedestrian pathway that stretches approximately 3.2 miles along the beach from Law St. in the north down into Mission Beach, end at the mouth of Mission Bay in the south. Approximately, crowded with pedestrians,cyclists,and shoppers are numerous local shops, bars, hotels, and restaurants along the boardwalk.

Additionally, nearby are notable landmarks such as Crystal Pier, a public pier. Kate Sessions Park offers stunning ocean views,a playground,and an expansive unmaintained area suitable for hiking or mountain biking. Fanuel Street Park, on the other hand ,is a bustling bay-front park with playground equipment aimed at toddlers and school-age children.Rose Creek flows through Pacific Beach before emptying into Mission Bay providing open space and a rich wetland area for residents to enjoy.
