Serra Mesa
Nestled between Interstate 805 and Interstate 15, and north of Friars Road and south of Aero Drive, Serra Mesa is a community in San Diego, California. Distinctive for its canyons, this area comprises military multi-family housing, single-family homes, apartments, and support retail. It is also home to a health-institutional complex anchored by Sharp and Children’s Hospitals.
Serra Mesa also offers the natural beauty of Ruffin Canyon Open Space Preserve – an 84-acre native habitat being restored by the Friends of Ruffin Canyon. This natural oasis runs nearly the length of Serra Mesa.
The community boasts recreational amenities such as the Serra Mesa Community Center which features a small park with a ball field, two playgrounds for young children, an outdoor basketball court, and an indoor basketball court. The center offers after-school and seasonal activities for children. Additionally located near Wegeforth Elementary School and St. Columba Church.
Murray Ridge Park is another key attraction located at the west end of Celestine Avenue offering various recreational opportunities while Cabrillo Park between Angier Elementary School and Highway 805 provides ball fields, large lawns, and playgrounds – making it perfect for families looking to enjoy outdoor activities together.
